I’ve always been fascinated & intrigued by people and the way we relate through words & art. From a young age, I was journaling and people-watching, and then for a few years in my twenties, I thought I would be a professional anthropologist. Then I met a man Vine Deloria, Jr., and I knew I couldn’t “study” people– not in a scholarly way, anyway.

Still, words & people calls, so I chose degrees in anthropology and also in journalism & mass communications. It all sounded slightly glamorous, but then adulting meant I needed a J.O.B.

At 22, I got my first gig in book publishing.

Twenty-five years later, I’ve worked for publishers & authors doing everything from writing book jacket copy to promoting writers on national TV & radio. From concept to cover, my love for the book’s creative process led me to grand adventures in publishing. Publishing, the so-called “accidental” profession, taught me how to make books, sell books & even host authors for thousands of readers.

In short, I like to make magic happen.
